Ringworm

Ringworm, medically known as alopecia areata (AA); It is a skin disorder-disease characterized by hair loss that suddenly appears in the hair on the scalp or anywhere on the body, appearing in the form of smooth, oval and hairless areas.
The disease triggers autoimmune-mediated hair loss.
Although it most often occurs on the scalp, it can also be seen in the hair on the beard, eyebrows, eyelashes, arm and leg areas.
Scientific research shows that the age of onset is generally childhood and young adulthood. The lifetime risk rate is 2%.

There are 3 different types of ringworm;

While the disease generally affects the hair covering one or a few areas, different severities can affect all areas.
It can affect the hair in body parts.

  • Alopecia Areata: Partial-limited-regional hair loss
  • Alopecia Totalis: Loss of all facial hair and hair
  • Alopecia Universalis: Loss of all hair and body hair
